I’m re-watching Modern Family with my husband since it’s now on Netflix and I adore this TV series, and one name that stands out to me for just how stinkin’ cute, lovely, short, sweet, and lovely it is belongs to Cam & Mitchells’ adopted daughter, Lily.

I don’t know what it is about that name, but it’s pretty damn near perfect. And it’s both perfect when it comes to using it as a full name as well as when it comes to using it as a nickname.

It’s got a lovely ring to it, has an absolutely stunning flower that it comes from, as I mentioned before, which I love about it as well, it’s short and sweet.

Basically I cannot think of a downside to it, unless you’re looking for a completely different type of name, like a more unisex sounding name or a long, complicated name, in which case Lily would obviously not suit your needs.

But as far as short, pretty names that are feminine and flower themed, I actually find it hard to think of one I like more. It beats out “Rose” in my books (which I think sounds too traditional at this point), and has definitely got a slight lead on “Poppy” as well, although Poppy is a pretty name.

If I were to look for a longer flower themed name I loved, Violet would probably be a good pick, but it’s not as versatile a name as Lily, so even then between the two I think I might just have to say Lily is probably my top pick or one of my very top picks when it comes to flower themed names.
