Whether you’re looking for a cool, pretty, fun, intelligent, or beautiful names for you’re female pirate, I’m hoping I’ve got enough types of names covered to help you uncover the perfect one – even if it’s not on this list, but an idea that sparked from seeing some of the options I’ve recommended!
“Anne,” “Charlotte,” “Sayyida,” and “Flora” are some of the more popular names that get recommended for female pirates, and while there are plenty more unique ones, I’ve started this list off with some of these common recommendations since they’re popular for a reason!

Next up, I’ve included a few different names that are pop culture and fictional character references that are either female pirate or pirate adjacent – names like “Eleanor,” “Angelica,” “Elizabeth,” and “Mary” – as well as a slew of others.
“Calypso,” “Hecate,” “Circe,” and “Morrigan” are all names that come straight out of mythological works that would make great names for female pirates, and have excellent backstories in case you’re after a name like that.
“Lira,” “Sia,” “Rin,” and “Ari” are all great names if you’d like your female pirate to have a short and sweet sounding name (or even nickname!) and “Vespera,” “Cassiopeia,” “Andromeda,” and “Octavia” are some of my favourites in case you’d prefer to go the complete opposite direction and give your female pirate a long, intelligent, poetic name instead.
If you like the idea of having single, one-word dictionary nicknames for your female pirate, I’ve got a list of a number of funny ones listed from “Bubbles,” “Jinx,” “Booty,” and “Plunder” – these are quite entertaining if you ask me.
Prefer cute & pretty ones? I have a list of these as well. From “Gem” to “Coin,” and “Plunder” – and if these are not cool enough for you, I’ve got a separate list for the ones that are more edgy and cool sounding, like “Rogue,” “Vandal,” “Quill,” and “Cipher.” If you want, you can always choose a nickname like that that has the same first letter as your female pirate’s name.
There are a load of great Victorian female names that make great female pirate names, like “Beatrice,” “Adelaide,” “Evangeline,” and “Cordelia.”
Gem names also make great female pirate names. “Ruby,” “Topaz,” “Peridot,” and “Citrine” are some of my favourite examples, but there are plenty more to choose from.
I also have lists of name recommendations that have particular meanings, like “water” and “sea” – “Nerissa,” “Marina,” “Thalassa,” and “Delphine” are some examples of these.
Female names associated with wealth and treasure work well as well, such as “Odette,” “Winifred,” “Pandora,” and “Esmeralda.”
If you prefer names that have meanings associated with night, “Orla,” “Kiara,” “Esme,” and “Samira” are some of my top choices in that category.
Would love to know which name you end up choosing! Please let me know in the comments’ section down below, if you have a moment to do so!
