Some of the best names for monks, in my opinion, are super funny pun-based names that are entertaining pop-culture references. These would make great usernames for those who play monks as mains in video games.
There are also a load of first-and-last name combinations for monks that would be excellent if you’re trying for a more serious, cool, and badass name for a monk character, whether that be in a video game or a fictional character, such as in a book you’re planning on writing.

I’ve tried to do my best to cover all the bases in this article, so that no matter what type of name you’re looking for, there will hopefully be a plethora of ideas for you to browse through and get inspiration from.
I’m hoping that even if the name you’re after isn’t on this list, that maybe the following lists will spark an idea that will get you to the perfect name, and if you do end up finding just the right one, please let me know what it ended up being in the comments section down below, super curious!
I’ve started the article off with a list of funny pop culture reference monk names, from “Bruise Lee” to “Buddha-licious” to “Jabba the Monk” – these are hilarious but I think the food themed ones may actually be even better.
In the food-themed funny monk names section, some of my favourites are “Kickin’ Kimchi,” “Tofu Fighter,” and “Wonton Yu.” I’m sure there are plenty more funny food-themed monk names that you can come up with that didn’t make it to the list, so if you can think up more, please share them if you have a moment to leave a comment down below.
I’ve also seen some other funny monk names circulating around the web, from “Fist Me Gently” to “Pho King” and these make for great, more edgy, monk usernames for video games.
But if you’re in the market for actual names for a monk character that are on the cool rather than funny side, I’ve also included lists of short monk first names vs long monk first names, as well as excellent last names for monks so you can put together combinations of names to create an excellent fictional monk name.
I’ve also included a list of weapon names that would make for great monk names. There are a lot of great options in this list, from monks named “Sai” and “Tekko,” to “Katana” and “Chakram.” These are really cool sounding but also just sound really aesthetic as well.
Finally, I’ve ended the list with one-word and two-word names for monks that would make good aliases. Words like “Phoenix” and “Lotus,” as well as two word combinations like “Crimson Cloak” and “Wind Walker” I think sound amazing as monk aliases.
Without further ado, the monk name recommendations…
