I can’t believe how enchanting and lovely moon themed names and nicknames ended up being.
I’ve done a lot of articles about names, and I must admit that the names I stumbled across while trying to find name recommendations for this list are some of my absolute favourite.
Whether you’re looking up a nickname to give to beautiful boy or girl that’s coming into your life, or you’re looking for a moon themed nickname to give to a pet or other loved one, I’m hoping this article gives you enough inspiration to land on the perfect one, even if it’s not one of my recommendations that is the perfect fit, but something you thought of after browsing through the names listed here.
Of course, I had to start off with names that have “moon” as their meaning, or have meanings that are related to the moon. Names like “Hala” and “Yue” and “Ayla” make great nicknames, especially if an individual has a name with the same first letter as their first name.
I’ve also included a list of words for “moon” in other languages, as these are striking and beautiful, and of course keep that tie to the moon. The words “Ay” and “Dal” would make for fantastic moon nicknames, I think.
Then again there are also plenty of words that are associated with the moon that I feel would make for exceptional nicknames – “Orb” and “Halo” are so pretty as nicknames related to the moon.
And I had to list at least a good number of ideas for nicknames that quite literally have the moon in them, as the common “Moonpie” is not the only adorable nickname you can have in this vein – “Moonkin” and “Moonshine,” and maybe my favourite – “Moonbloom” – as well as so many others, work so beautifully as well.
I’ve included a list of gods and goddesses associated with the moon as well, and these happen to be a gorgeous group of mythological-themed moon names that I think would be great to consider as moon nicknames. There are also names that have meanings related to “night” and “light” that could make for top contendors.
