There are all sorts of ways you can go if you’re looking for a great male sorcerer name, and I’ve done my best to outline a slew of different routes you can take when looking for a name, so that you have quite a lot of ideas.
I’ve written this post in a way that you can ideally find the perfect name browsing this article – whether it’s one suggested here, or sparks from an idea you have browsing through some of the categories in this post, as there are some ideas for types of names that might lead you down the ideal avenue for the perfect fit.

Them most obvious route I could think of when trying to name a male sorcerer, is to use the name of a famous wizard or male magician. There are names like “Merlin” and “Gandalf” that are classics for a reason, but there are also many more options in this list, like “Alatar” and “Magus” and “Ged.”
You can also go the mythological figure route, and name your male sorcerer after someone like “Ra” or “Hermes,” “Hephaestus,” or “Apollo.” These work wonderfully well if you want a level of depth to the character that also matches the vibe of an already existing mythological character, like “Loki” if you’re looking for a trickster sorcerer, for instance.
My favourite types of male sorcerer names are probably those that are Gothic sounding – names like “Zephyr” and “Ignatius” I think make for wonderful male sorcerer names, and are a little less on the nose and more unique than those that are more commonly used because they are famous sorcerers or mythological characters. If you like these names, be sure to browse through this particular list in the article, as I’ve grouped these together so you can easily browse through them if they’re what you prefer, too.
For those who prefer shorter names over longer ones for their male sorcerer – I’ve also got a list of excellent powerful, dark, and evil yet intelligent sounding names that will work quite well for a male sorcerer. Names like “Korr,” “Raz,” “Mord,” and “Syx” I think make extremely interesting sounding male sorcerer names, and they can also work as nicknames for longer names as well.
If you prefer to go the longer route, and like really long names rather than short or medium length names, these are also some of my favourite options for male sorcerers. I particularly like “Vesperion” and “Malachai,” but there are a lot of great options in this category, like “Fenririon,” “Grimwald,” “Duskbane” and “Valthor.” I do think names that start with V and M make for great sorcerer names, and names that start with K and S are a close second for me.
For those that prefer names that have particular meanings to add a level of additional depth to a character name, I also love the names associated with night, like “Erebus” and “Selwyn.” Names associated with power also work very well, like “Darius,” “Cedric,” and “Magnus.”
If you have a male sorcerer that has a connection to one element rather than all of them, I’ve included several lists for fire, water, earth, and wind themed names that work for male sorcerers.
Please let me know in the comments section which name you end up choosing (or which you are choosing between if you still have not decided) – I’d personally love to know your favourites! I’d also love to know who you are naming, whether it’s a video game character, a fictional character, or something else. Super curious! Without further ado, the lists of names for you to browse through…
