On the heels of writing about more insulting nicknames for tall people – which I would assume you would want if the tall person in your life was incredibly mean and not a nice person at all – I figured I’d make a post for all the awesome tall people who need funny, cute, and fun nicknames instead.
There are so many ways you can go with this type of thing, and nicknames in general, and while I’m crossing my fingers the recommendation you end up choosing is on this list, even if it’s not and I just get you in the right direction, I’m happy with that.
For those who just want great one-word nicknames that suit pretty much any tall person, there’s a pretty long list of these for you to browse through for some ideas. Some of my favourites include: “Longshot,” “Highrise,” “Ascendant,” and “Summit” – of those not entirely obvious, like “Giraffe” and “Altitude.”
I think some of these are so cool and badass sounding that they’re practically a compliment. I love ’em to bits.
If you prefer to go the pop culture / fictional character route, there are also a load of swell options. I think I like “Biggie Talls” (a pun on “Biggie Smalls” of course!) and Groot the best, although there are loads of punny options that work for both males and females in a bunch of different genres (like “Beanpole Bieber” and “Tower Swift” for those looking for tall puns related to pop stars like Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift).
If you’re happy to go the route of choosing two-word nicknames, but don’t want to use names, just words, some of my favourites are “Cloud Catcher,” “Tall Tale,” and “Vertical Vibes” – although “Overhead Lighting” I think is hilarious.
Prefer some that are more on the cute side? Say to nickname your significant other or someone you’re into? Nicknames like “Great Heights,” “High Life,” and “Tall Order” are stupendously adorable if you ask me.
There are plenty of other great nicknames that work perfectly if you’re in a romantic relationship with someone tall and want a lovely nickname just for them. If you need something just-cheezie-enough, “Vertical Valentine” works perfectly. “Ceiling Kiss,” “Lanky Love,” and “Big Spoon” are all so cute I can’t handle it.
